TL/DR: Senator Harrison, Representative Cullen and President Roosevelt legalized the sale of beer in the United States effective April 7, 1933. The United States now celebrates National Beer Day every April 7th (and on many week nights and most weekends).

American Heroes (at least on this point) Senator Pat Harrison and Representative Thomas Cullen drafted the Cullen-Harrison Act, which legalized the sale of beer in the United States. This legislation was signed into effect by another American Hero, Franklin D. Roosevelt (again, at least on this point) on March 22nd, 1933. This Act led to the ratification of the Twenty-First Amendment (repealing the Eighteenth Amendment which prohibited the sale of beer and intoxicating liquors) occurring on “New Beers Eve,” April 6th, 1933. That makes April 7th, 1933 the first full day beer was legalized after Prohibition in the United States.
